Hello Lovelies,

It was mothers day in Thailand this weekend! Which is a double celebration because the day was chosen to be on the Queens birthday - the city is decorated in fairy lights and giant pictures of the queen, people come out and celebrate as well as honour their mothers with flower garlands.

The day is considered a national holiday, so everyone is has it off! Taking full advantage we hopped in a van and a whole lot of traffic later arrived in Koh Samet.

Koh Samet isn't massively known by tourists but is a favourite with the Thai's. Its a beautiful little island that can be reached by 3 hour van / 20 minute speed boat from Bangkok.

Arriving at Hat Puek Tian beach, you are greeted at the end of the walkway by....

this giant naked golden woman! Brought to life by Thailands most famous poet Sunthorn Phu:

As well as mermaids and pipers on Hat Sai Kaew beach, also brought to life from the poets 30,000 line masterpiece.

Looking to chill out, we spent the day on the beach soaking up some vitamin D

(as well as posing on nice rocks)

Then grabbing dinner, whilst been started at by dogs

Craving more UV and been disappointed in the sun for forever setting at 6pm, we took to the street looking for fun, only to realise our bungalows were part of the sweetest joint in town, Nada:

Arriving early we took full advantage of happy hour's 80baht (£1.80) cocktails and got the party started!

The open air part of the bar serves food during the day and is a drunken artists studio at night:

The cocktails are delicious and certainly get Lane smiling!

As the night goes on, the drink flows, the music starts pumping and headbands start flashing

Only to wake up a few meters away the next morning to this view:

It was just a whip your hair back and forth kinda weekend, with the happiest bunch!

(even with the sun burn!)
